The Basics: A long-standing studio that has been operating for over 25 years, led by designer Michael Azoulay. The studio specializes in hotels, commercial spaces, and luxury residences and includes a multidisciplinary team that offers special and diverse solutions using new technologies and addressing trends in the field. Each of their projects has a distinct and unique design language – “A project in Eilat cannot be the same as a project in Jerusalem. Hence, we do not have a distinct style. We research the place, the client, and the target audience and bring the right thing to the right place. Our language is understanding the needs and the place, and each time we bring a different style and variety.”

Welcome to: Inbal Hotel in Jerusalem,The firm’s team has been accompanying him for over five years in a gradual process of renovation and design. In the hotel, the studio team combined materials, colors, and textures that characterize Jerusalem, along with elements that speak a multinational language – “We wanted to speak on many levels and refer to the three religions. We chose the mashrabiya motif and created different interpretations of it in terms of form, color, and materiality,” explains Michael.

The design features the use of olive green and brass tones that connect with the place, and carefully selected textiles were incorporated to create an authentic and diverse market experience. In designing the rooms, the designers chose to enhance the magnificent view revealed through the windows and create a luxurious and elegant atmosphere that will be relevant for years to come. “We used colors that are reflected through the windows, such as blue and green, and created a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere.”

The large spaces allowed the designers to create interesting and diverse solutions, such as in the bar and restaurant area, for which a more urban style inspired by New York and Tel Aviv was chosen. There, the Jerusalem stone was replaced with rich and elegant materials.

On the drawing board: “We are working on projects in Israel and abroad, including the South Gate project, apartments in the towers, the Sun Hotel in Bat Yam, a hotel in Prague and an interesting project for the Ocean Museum in Berlin, where the theme is preserving nature and bringing it to the city. It’s a 40,000 square meter project accompanied by huge aquariums. It’s a new and intriguing world for us in terms of work.”
