Renovating a house in a moshav in central IsraelFor a senior couple whose four children have grown up and started families. “This house is the dream of every extended Israeli family. It is the center of life for all the children and grandchildren and serves as a place for everyone to spend time together. It is also a paradise for lovers of horses, sheep, dogs and animals in general, as the extensive grounds also include a guest house, a riding club, a swimming pool, horse stables and agricultural land,” says interior designer Orly Silver. The renovated house cleverly combines a modest exterior design with a luxurious interior design with an Italian flavor. Classic elements and a warm, natural color palette compliment the modern style, which emphasizes the impressive features of the house and creates an elegant and timeless atmosphere.

From an outdated beam system to a spectacular skylight

“When it comes to old construction, one has to deal with constraints and elements that were acceptable in the past and are now obsolete, such as narrow, long windows along the kitchen work surface, which provide very little natural light. We consulted with a constructor with the aim of expanding almost all the openings in the house, and with the help of the contractor’s attentive and hard work, we were able to overcome the obstacles that stood in our way.” In addition, the designer dealt with supporting columns throughout the house, which she incorporated into the design. For example, a supporting column in the center of the living room served as a foundation for a floor-to-ceiling wine cooler, and is covered with the same materials as the kitchen cabinets to create continuity between the spaces. Another column in the closet room was wrapped in mirrored glass that enhances the space. In addition, a system of old-fashioned exterior beams was converted into a spectacular skylight, flooding the interior with natural light.

Design a unique, custom skylight with Nielsen

A skylight in the form of a modern masherbia was designed as a design element that repeats itself in several areas of the house. You can see the library in the living room that combines natural stone and masherbia and creates special shadows. In addition, the masherbia was incorporated as partitions that hide areas of the house, such as the entrance to the guest bathroom.

The house stands on a rectangular and elongated plot. Its built area is 350 square meters, divided into three levels. On the left side of the ground floor, which rises to a height of over three meters, are the dining area and kitchen; on the right side is the living room, which faces a large outdoor area shared by the main house and the guest house. A spacious entertainment area was designed in the area with a seating area, an impressive dining table and a pool, from which you can look out over the magnificent view of the farm. From the ground floor, you can go down to the lower floor, where there is a utility room, a laundry room and a fully equipped gym, or go up to the upper floor, where the couple’s suite, a home office, guest rooms for the grandchildren and a bathroom were designed.

Delicate textures and warm tones – a warm and enveloping design language

The floor is covered with ‘Del Rio’ stone tiles fromAbsolutoWith a wild and elegant look. “Stone has movement and depth, and it gives a charming air to the luxurious space,” notes Orly. In the living room, another stone was incorporated to cover the TV wall, a natural stone of the ‘Silk Gorget’ type, which creates depth but maintains a refined background.

When choosing the furniture, purchased at Pietro Hecht’s house, Orly made sure to combine meticulous style with maximum comfort.

“All the furniture in the house is luxurious Italian furniture of the highest level,” she notes. The living room features Fendi Casa furniture with a classic look that harmoniously connects with the design language of the house. “The leather armchairs, for example, add a light and cool puff, reminiscent of horse leather saddles,” the designer adds. The dining table, located between the living room and the kitchen, was also imported from Fendi.

The dining area jewel from Kimchi Lighting includes a central and special light fixture, mounted to the ceiling with thin, invisible cables.

A unique lighting fixture from the Czech company Boma, imported to Israel by Kimchi Lighting Company. The fixture is made of nine handmade glass crescents, which can be installed in different compositions. The fixture incorporates a brass finish in each part, giving the space an exclusive look.

Continuous surfaces and clean facades for an elegant and impressive appearance

The kitchen of the Modulnova companyDesigned in a modern style and in a warm gray shade that blends well with the soft and warm color palette of the house. “Modulnova has special specifications and finishing materials, such as a corner concept mechanism and the possibility of producing particularly high fronts, as required here, with the height of the kitchen being 3.2 m,” notes Orly. The cooking and baking space includes a low front with a wide work surface facing the expanded windows, a central island that is also used for daily meals, and a high front with an impressive appearance, achieved through smooth fronts, push-opening and integral electrical appliances. “The kitchen is very elegant, and at the same time durable, practical and very functional,” adds the designer.

As in the kitchen, the use of floor-to-ceiling elements and uniform, continuous surfaces is prominent in other areas of the house. This creates a clean, contemporary look that emphasizes the dimensions of the space. The ascent to the upper floor leads to a long hallway facing tall windows overlooking the outdoor area. The hallway is designed in a minimalist style withNielsen Zero Line Doors, which create a continuous wall on a uniform plane. The hallway is entirely white, and at its end are two doors that lead to the master suite, which includes a spacious bedroom and bathroom and dressing areas separated by a system of sliding doors.

A TV wall was designed between the areas, and the bed, imported from Visionaire Italia and purchased from Pietro Hecht, faces it. Beside it are bedside tables from the French super brand Roche Bobois and lighting fixtures from the Czech company Boma. At the end of the bedroom is a covered balcony with a sliding system and a luxurious and comfortable seating area. “The balcony offers an open and breathtaking view towards the estate, a dreamy retreat at the end of a working day,” describes Orly.
