Dana Elkon Architects

The basics: Dana’s studio has been operating for over 15 years and is distinguished by its special attention to every detail, small and large, in the process of designing residential interiors and dressing the home. This creates a sense of completeness in the space, where all the details and accessories fit together harmoniously. “Ever since I can remember, design has been an inseparable part of me. I live and breathe design and aesthetics at any given moment. Design for me is not just a profession but a way of life – the ability to combine functionality with beauty and leave a personal mark everywhere I touch,” says Dana. She describes her design line as understated modern, characterized by an elegant and clean look that stands the test of time. “I believe in clean and clear lines that bring order and calm to the space and at the same time make sure to incorporate warm elements.”

Welcome to: a 260 square meter apartment in Jerusalem designed by remote control for a couple and their four children who live abroad and come to Israel for vacations.

Dana says: “The clients wanted to design a peaceful and relaxing vacation apartment, conveying the feeling of a luxurious hotel in a modern and clean style. The requirement was clear – to create an apartment completely ready for occupancy, including all the necessary equipment, so that upon their arrival they could simply unpack their suitcases and feel at home.” The work process was mostly done virtually, with material samples sent abroad and the family members coming to Israel “for a marathon of final decisions and furniture and equipment choices.”

A long wall that accompanies the public space is covered with three-dimensional joinery painted white. Opposite it is a wall covered with light oak veneer that gives the house warmth and depth. The wall combines smart and meticulous joinery and includes plenty of storage, the integration of air conditioning systems and even a hidden sink for washing hands. An airy iron library from floor to ceiling divides the public space, which is narrow and long – on one side there is a seating area and on the other an intimate work area with a TV corner next to it. The kitchen provides a contrast to the cozy space and combines dark veneer cladding, a metallic champagne hue and natural granite stone cladding of the Taj Mahal Revan type.
